Dental foam strips are 90% air and developed from plastics used in toothbrushes, dental floss, chewing gum and food wrap to replicate tooth cleaning activities.
Note the soft open outer cell walls of the foam strips that can scour plaque and food from gum margins, from between teeth and force saliva and dental agents inside grooves to remove food, neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth.

School teachers can place a drop of food dye one one end of a dental foam strip so the student can apply the dye to top tooth surfaces and see any plaque on teeth.
They can then remove plaque under finger pressure, then floss and chew the foam.
